We help people facing hardship take control of their future through enlistment, mentorship, and purpose.

STEPS FOR CANDIDATES

At Second Chance Heroes, we guide each candidate through the enlistment process with mentorship, transportation, and unwavering support. Here's what that journey looks like:

  1. Initial Intake
We begin with a one-on-one meeting to learn about the candidate’s goals and background and discuss ways we will support them every step of the way.

  2. Branch Exploration & Recruiter Visits
We educate candidates about all branches of the military and help them connect with recruiters based on their goals and interests—empowering them to choose the path that fits best.

  3. Transportation Support
We provide rides to and from all necessary meetings, evaluations, physical training, educational classes, and recruiter visits to eliminate barriers to progress.

  4. Medical Screening
We assist with arranging required physical evaluations and medical documentation to ensure candidates meet military standards.

  5. Psychiatric Evaluation (if needed)
For candidates with past trauma or mental health history, we help facilitate evaluations and treatment plans to address concerns and support readiness.

  6. GED/HSED Completion Support (if needed)
For those without a high school diploma, we connect them with GED or HSED programs—and offer guidance, accountability, and transportation along the way.

  7. ASVAB Preparation
We provide study materials, practice tests, and tutoring to help candidates score high and keep their branch options open. (The ASVAB is a standardized test used to determine an individual's aptitude for various military jobs.)

  8. Physical Fitness Training
We support candidates in reaching required fitness benchmarks with structured training plans and transportation to and from workouts.

  9. Enlistment
When all requirements are met, we guide each candidate through the enlistment process and continue to check in even after they've taken that first step toward a new future.

“second chances are not given to make things right, but to prove we can be better even after we fall.”
